KEY POINTS:
Telecom's Australian operation AAPT says it is on track to deliver the first release of its A$100 million ($113 million) consumer and small enterprise transformation project in June.
AAPT released a statement on the project a day before Telecom releases its third quarter results tomorrow.
AAPT's consumer and small enterprise general manager, David Watson, said the successful delivery of the project was "incredibly symbolic".
It signalled more than two years' work to deliver on AAPT's commitment to be the "most straight up" telco in Australia.
The new infrastructure allowed AAPT to deliver simple, effective products as quickly as the market demanded.
Some customers had been running on the platform for a number of weeks and AAPT was now focused on fine tuning the technology and business processes.
"We're confident this transformation project will revolutionise our consumer and small enterprise business," Mr Watson said.
"We're positioning the company to deliver long-term financial advantages, with the ability to scale rapidly at a relatively low cost."
The project, combined with Telecom's pending A$357 million PowerTel acquisition, represented Telecom's plan to create a more powerful retail and wholesale force in the Australian market and position AAPT for long term growth, AAPT said.
Telecom has written off most of its investment in AAPT for which it paid A$2.2 billion in 1999.
