First NZ Capital Securities was last night named the country's top sharebroking firm for the second year in a row.
Fund managers ranked broking firms for the annual awards of the Institute of Finance Professionals.
First NZ Capital, the local representative of Credit Suisse First Boston, held a 21.5 per cent share of sharemarket trading by value in the most recent figures to be published.
The judges said the firm "edged out several other big international names as well as stiff competition from a number of excellent smaller New Zealand contenders".
Firms were ranked on factors including research, deal execution, client account management and investment banking capability.

Best corporate communicator (emerging leaders) - Fisher & Paykel Appliances
Best corporate communicator (market leaders) - Telecom
Excellence in treasury - NGC Holdings
Fund manager of the year - AMP Capital Investors .
