The Warehouse's new mega store at the Sylvia Park development in Auckland is to be named The Warehouse Extra.
The Warehouse said the name denoted the fact the store would have a fresh food department.
The group's general manager of marketing, Stuart Yorston, said from June this year any store which is built new or converted to include a fresh food offering will be called The Warehouse Extra.
"We researched several options with customers, and found that The Warehouse Extra was the one that best implied that there was something new and different in the store," he said.
The 12,500sq m Sylvia Park store is set to open in June. As well as a full grocery offer, The Warehouse Extra also sell alcohol via The Warehouse Cellars, and will also have a bakery, a cafe and an in-store pharmacy, as well as the usual general range of merchandise and clothing.
Shares in The Warehouse were down 3c at $3.79 in a broadly weaker sharemarket at noon, having ranged between $3.04 and $4.17 over the past year.
