UberEATS now available at North Shore outlets

UberEATS is now available for North Shore residents, the company announced today.

Launched in Auckland six months ago, UberEATS allows users to order food from participating restaurants and have it delivered at their doorstep.

The app is now available for use in Devonport, Takapuna, Northcote, Glenfield and Birkenhead.

Participating restaurants include Street Organics, Al Forno, Mexicali Fresh, Poke Poke, Spice Traders, Franc's, The Burger Bach, Chutney Mary, Bird on a Wire, Ramen Lab, Woodside Cafe, and Billy.

Street Organics owner Nicky Partridge said she was looking forward to an increase in local demand for her food.

"More and more people want access to healthy, whole foods and we're on a mission to make that possible here on the Shore," Partridge said.

"Our customer base will grow literally overnight. To say we're excited is an understatement," she said.

The roll-out of UberEATS in Auckland saw a boom for the hospitality sector. Several Auckland restaurants reported a significant upturn in business since the service launched.

In April, Aari Puri, owner of Boy & Bird in Ponsonby, said her business was so busy the UberEATS app often had to be switched off for periods during peak times throughout the day. He also now had a dedicated manager at weekends to deal solely with Uber deliveries.

Best Ugly Bagels, run by celebrity chef Al Brown, has been taking an extra 40-50 orders a day.

"We are steady throughout the day but we are particularly busy with Uber orders in the morning," Best Ugly Bagels spokesman Stuart Robertson said. "We work this around our regular daily business because we don't want to compromise the experience regular customers have when they come into the shop."
