Christchurch-based retailer Smiths City said first-half after-tax profit rose 1.3 per cent to $1.76 million, in what it called a challenging retail market.
Operating revenue was also slightly higher, at $135.8 million, despite softer demand and rising costs, chairman Craig Boyce said.
The interim dividend was unchanged at 1.5c per share.
