An international anti-boycott movement raised $3000 during an event to promote sustainable business practices.
Wellington cafe Memphis Belle raised the money during New Zealand's first Carrotmob.
The event was organised by Conscious Consumers, a project headed by Wellington not-for profit organisation 42 Collective, to encourage businesses to use seasonal produce, free-range eggs and Fairtrade products.
Carrotmob, founded in San Francisco, gets a group of business owners to pledge an amount to reinvest back into their businesses to make them more efficient. The business with the highest bid wins, and is then mobbed by hundreds of customers.
The money raised during the mob is also put back into the business to make it more energy efficient.
Memphis Belle was mobbed by 300 customers on Saturday.
Conscious Consumers will be launching in Auckland in June, and the Waikato in June, and will host Carrotmobs in those regions.
