Receivers for Kitchen House, the troubled retailer which shut its shops and sent staff home this week, say the company is in receivership, has debts of more than $2 million and is unlikely to conduct any further trading.
Receivers KordaMentha said shareholders had announced to the retailer's staff on Monday that it was impossible for the company, which is registered with the Companies Office as CGKH Limited, to continue trading.
The receivership affects 35 staff, KordaMentha said.
Receiver Grant Graham said company records indicated that Kitchen House had an aggregate debt of around $2.4 million.
"Given that staff had been sent home by the directors on Monday it is unlikely there will be any further trading," he said. " We understand there are a number of parties who have paid deposits on kitchens and we are working through that with the assistance of staff. We have been contacted by several customers already and we are treating deposits as a priority."
