Bookseller Dymocks has closed its Auckland office and moved the administration of its nine New Zealand outlets to Sydney. Chief executive Don Grover said having two head offices meant some tasks were being duplicated.
The chain opens a 10th New Zealand franchise in Ponsonby in a few weeks' time, he said. It opened two stores, in Mt Eden and Smales Farm, last year.
Grover said bookselling in both Australia and New Zealand was flat but was doing better than other parts of the retail sector.
The restructuring sees the loss of the roles of Auckland general manager Andrew Howard and retail business manager Doris Mousdale.
