The number and value of trades on the NZX equity market in May rose compared with a year ago even though the number of listings fell.
The NZX operates both debt and equity markets and sells information services.
Total trades last month at 72,426 were up 40.7 per cent from May 2010 and the value of trades was up 27.2 per cent.
A total of 171 equity securities were listed, down 4.5 per cent on last year, and a total of 110 debt securities were listed, down 7.6 per cent.
