The number and value of transactions on New Zealand's main sharemarket in July was up on the same month last year, but not on the smaller NZAX alternative market.
NZX operating figures show there were 54,078 transactions on the NZSX during July - a 9 per cent increase on last year.
The value of those trades was up 27 per cent at $2.757 billion and the market's entire capitalisation was 6 per cent higher at $63.268 billion. The number of transactions on the NZAX was down 32 per cent to 642 and their value was down 34 per cent to $200 million.
