NYSE's strong market debut has some analysts questioning whether the shares are already too expensive compared with other publicly traded exchanges.
Surging 23 per cent to US$80, the 213-year-old exchange's value jumped US$2.6 billion to US$12.6 billion on Wednesday.
Other analysts believe the brand is strong enough to support such investor interest.
