New car registrations fell for a second month last month, by 11.4 per cent to 3973, the Transport Agency says.
The Government agency said December's registrations were 24 per cent lower than a year earlier.
Used car registrations - generally imported used cars - totalled 7604 last month, up 15 per cent from November and 20 per cent up on a year ago.
New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were down almost 22 per cent from a month earlier, and 36 per cent lower than a year ago.
