Want to see what the Italian media are writing about Auckland and the America's Cup?
Thanks to a Dutch company, this is now possible in Auckland via a vending Machine.
Hard copies of selected international newspapers - 100 titles from 44 countries - can be bought from a PEPC newspaper vending unit, an interactive kiosk which digitally prints up-to-date editions of global newspapers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Installed in the lobby at the Hilton Hotel, the printer service is available to guests and the public.
Marketing manager Penny Evans says the PEPC Presspoint machine was installed to coincide with the start of the Louis Vuitton Cup and has proved a big success.
The available newspapers print within two minutes, in A3 black and white. The newspapers are free of classifieds and full page ads, and the pages are stapled together.
A maximum of 44 pages each, the newspapers cost US$5 ($10.28) which is payable by credit card.
The machine, an initiative of The Hague's PEPC Worldwide, does not yet carry British newspapers because of difficulties in counting sales for audits. But Jan Strijker of Brantas, the local agent, said this issue was being worked through.
PEPC's digital distribution network uses five satellites to supply the newspaper vending units around the globe.
