Zeev Schiff, one of Israel's most respected journalists, has died, aged 74.
He covered military and defence issues for the newspaper Haaretz for more than 50 years, serving as defence editor in recent years. He published numerous books about military and security issues and contributed articles to numerous journals.
He served as an intelligence officer in the Israeli military and studied Middle Eastern affairs at Tel Aviv University before joining Haaretz in 1955 and serving as military correspondent in Vietnam, the Soviet Union, Cyprus and Ethiopia.
