SYDNEY - Australian newspaper publisher John Fairfax Holdings Ltd said today it had agreed a A$1.2 billion ($1.4 billion) facility with banks to fund its acquisition of Rural Press.
Fairfax said in a statement the syndicated facility agreement was jointly arranged by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group and Commonwealth Bank of Australia .
Fairfax offered A$2.8 billion to buy regional media group Rural Press last year to strengthen against a possible takeover bid.
