KEY POINTS:
SYDNEY - Shares in APN News and Media rose 1.9 per cent in Australia today after a group led by Tony O'Reilly's Independent News and Media Plc. raised its takeover offer for to A$6.20 ($7.06).
APN shares were up 1.9 per cent at A$6.03 at 1.00pm.
APN, which owns the New Zealand Herald and The Radio Network in New Zealand, in February agreed to a A$6.10 per share offer from Independent and partners Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners (PEP).
