Herald publisher APN News & Media is restructuring its operations in New Zealand ahead of a listing on the local exchange, planned for next month.
A new division - APN New Zealand National Publishing - will include the Herald, weekly giveaway the Aucklander, and NZ Magazines, publisher of the NZ Woman's Weekly, and the Listener.
Ken Steinke, chief executive of the Herald, becomes chief executive of APN NZ National Publishing. Rick Neville is deputy chief executive.
Neville was previously with media company INL, before moving to Australia as chief executive of Advertiser Newspapers in Adelaide, then becoming a consultant to APN last year.
Also joining the new division is Sarah Sandley, as publisher of NZ Magazines.
APN's regional newspapers remain part of the transtasman Regional Publishing Division.
