APN NZ chief appointed

Martin Simons has been appointed chief executive of APN New Zealand, publisher of the Herald.

Simons, now based in Brisbane as CEO of the company's regional papers on both sides of the Tasman, has 35 years' experience in the newspaper industry as a journalist and manager.

He replaces Ken Steinke, who is leaving in early July to become chief executive of West Australian Newspapers in Perth.
