More than 100,000 toys made by Mattel are being recalled in New Zealand due to hazards from powerful magnets and lead paint.
The company is recalling more than 22 million toys globally.
In New Zealand 3251 toys depicting a green army vehicle called "Sarge" from the "CARS" die-cast toy assortment are being recalled because they may contain unacceptable levels of lead.
Also about 113,000 magnetic toys in New Zealand from the Polly Pocket range, as well as Barbie and Tanner and Doggie Day Care toys, are being recalled because they may release small, powerful magnets.
Mattel said the magnetic toys were all made before January 31 this year and subsequently the company had implemented enhanced magnet retention systems in its toys across all brands.
The company advised consumers to immediately take the affected toys away from children.
It said the recalls were not due to injuries being reported anywhere in the world.
Consumers were advised to contact Mattel on 0800 174 063 or via their website to find out if their toys are affected and not to return the products to retail stores.
Mattel is offering a full cash refund for the returned product.
It is the second toy recall by Mattel this month.
In early August a number of Fisher-Price Sesame Street toys were recalled because they might contain unacceptable levels of lead.
The head of the factory where the toys were made has committed suicide.
His body was found at a warehouse this week. He had apparently hanged himself.
The recall follows the recall of toxic pet food, seafood and toothpaste which were also made in China.
