KEY POINTS:
New York lawyer Jeffrey Killino, whose lawsuit helped lead to a recall of defective Chinese-made tires, has filed a class action lawsuit against Mattel because of its recalls of toys that might contain excessive amounts of lead paint.
Killino said yesterday that the suit was aimed at forcing the world's largest toy maker to pay for the testing of children who might have lead poisoning from the toys, which were made in China.
Representatives from Mattel were not available to comment.
After last week's recalls, Mattel chief executive Robert Eckert said the company's more aggressive testing methods to uncover tainted toys could lead to more recalls.
