WELLINGTON - A Lower Hutt engineering firm is hoping a new fire engine for the Australian Capital Territory's fire service will revive the multi-million dollar export business of defunct fire equipment company Lowes Industries.
Fraser Fire and Rescue will today hand over the keys to an ACT representative in a ceremony to include special effects lighting by a crew from The Lord of the Rings film production.
Martin Simpson, general manager of JJ Fraser Engineering and Fraser Fire, said it was hoped the engine would become a benchmark for future sales. JJ Fraser bought the assets and intellectual property of Lowes.
