The Commerce Commission and the trucking industry have been meeting today in an attempt to clear up any confusion surrounding fuel surcharges.
The Road Transport Forum, which represents the truckers, have a few concerns about how surcharges are to be dealt with.
Businesses have had a stern warning from the Commerce Commission that they will be dealt with seriously if fuel surcharges are separated from advertised services.
Forum Chief Executive Tony Friedlander said this has caused confusion and concern amongst transport providers. He would like to see a speedy resolution because so many companies are uncertain about how to run their business.
Mr Friedlander said surcharges are there for a good reason and there needs to be a compromise with the Commerce Commission.
