The 10-year-old Tranz Rail name has been dumped in the dustbin of New Zealand transport history.
Tranz Rail is the listed company that bought New Zealand Rail from the Government in 1993.
From next Wednesday, it will be Toll NZ, pronounced with an Australian accent to reflect that country's Toll Holdings taking control.
The company's major operating subsidiary, Tranz Rail Ltd, will become Toll NZ Consolidated.
Tranz Rail chief executive David Jackson said: "It allows the marketplace to more readily identify the group of companies with its major shareholder."
The company's rail operation will be Toll Rail, and the freight forwarding and distribution becomes Toll Tranz Link.
That Tranz Rail train don't stop here any more.
