Safe anchoring and efficient boat ramp techniques will be the subjects of Smart Marine's free seminar on July 13. The venue is their store in Beaumont St, Westhaven. Russell Carter from Kiwi Yachting Consultants will explain the finer points associated with anchoring in a range of conditions and bottom types.
He will also demonstrate the best ways to launch and retrieve trailerboats in a variety of conditions. Smart Marine's manager Luke Schiphorst is expecting a big turnout and those interested in attending the seminar can book by phoning Smart Marine on 358-2850, extension 4.
Challenge of change
The 5th New Zealand Marine Industry Conference will be held at the Park Heritage Hotel in Rotorua, July 13-15. The conference theme is the challenge of change. Some sessions will be led by Leith Oliver from the Icehouse International Centre for Entrepreneurship.
Other speakers will include journalist Rod Oram and Ernst & Young tax experts. The speaker at the dinner will be entertainer Phil Kingsley-Jones.
