The Auckland company that produces Pacific MotorYacht and the New Zealand and Australian Propeller magazines is aiming a new title at the recreational boating market in China. In a joint venture with Taiwan-based company Formula 10, D&B Publishing has launched China Yachting in both Taiwan and mainland China. Editor Julian Jesson says Chinese and Taiwanese boatbuilders are hungry for technical information and news about new products and trends in the international marine market.

The Tidelines brief last weekend on the yacht horizon has drawn a big response. First email was from Aucklander Robert Tait, who now owns the yacht which is undergoing a complete restoration. Bucklands Beach Yacht Club people associated with staging the races to Mooloolaba Race including the one in which Horizon was wrecked. The BBYC helped owner-skipper Warwick Fromm to get her back to Auckland. Film-maker Dan Salmon was another keen to see the scrapbook as he is making a documentary about the upcoming Mooloolaba race.

* The last race in the Simrad Barrier series is the main event on the harbour this weekend. There will be around 140 starters for the Shorthanded Sailing Association's 100-miler starting off Orakei Wharf at 9am. Other action includes:

&* Tomorrow: Winter racing (Panmure Yacht & Boating Club); winter series RS:X & 420 (Takapuna Boating Club).
