KEY POINTS:
International firm ASP Ship Management Group has bought Silver Fern Shipping, a Wellington-based ship management and crewing business.
Silver Fern was previously owned by the four oil majors BP, Chevron, Mobil Oil and Shell.
The company brought a tanker, the 'Nyathi' but now renamed 'Torea', to Auckland on 1 December. She is currently berthed at Wynyard Wharf while the refit is carried out.
She will be crewed entirely by NZ personel and will carry white
products only (petrol, diesel and aviation kerosene).
