Listed marine company Sealegs Corporation said today its United States-based subsidiary, Sealegs International, has been granted a patent for its amphibious boat technology.
Sealegs chief executive David McKee Wright said the patent, valid for 20 years from the original application date of December 2002, was part of its international intellectual property programme.
The company has already registered trademarks in most of its major markets.
"The US Patent and the other worldwide patents pending should assist Sealegs in maintaining its position as the world's leading manufacturer of amphibious boats," Mr McKee Wright said.
Shares in Sealegs, which posted a narrower full year deficit of $1.26 million and said earnings rose 86 per cent in the 12 months to March 31, last traded up half a cent at 20c.
