KEY POINTS:
Four months after Standard Bank purchased Australia's second largest boat builder from receivers, the company has committed to a multi-million dollar, dedicated research and development programme.
According to reports, the new programme is to be charged with several projects including the development of a new Sports Coupe range, further development of the Sports Flybridge range (including the addition of 50 and 56 models) and rejuvenation of the Sports Cruiser range. The first visible result of the programme is scheduled to be the release of the new 430 Sports Coupe later this year.
Recently appointed Mustang Marine chief executive, Chris Heaton, says the 430 Sports Coupe is an exciting development for the new Mustang Marine team.
"The addition of this new range is the first of many new developments in the pipeline, including the release of the much anticipated M56 Sports Flybridge," he says.
The company continues to manufacture from its Gold Coast facility and now employs an expanding roster of around 100 staff and contractors.
The company has also acquired dealerships in their two largest local markets, southeast Queensland and Sydney.
It is also cementing relationships with existing dealers.
According to Heaton, international interest has also been encouraging.
