The Ports of Auckland has been left shocked this afternoon after receiving a third strike notice from port workers.
The ports this morning lifted its lockout notice and challenged the union to lift their strike notice for this Thursday and Friday.
Instead, the Maritime Union has warned of a third strike, this time from December 22 to December 23.
Ports of Auckland chief executive Tony Gibson says he is shocked the union has issued a third strike notice just a day after the company's largest customer, Maersk, pulled its Southern Star service out of Auckland because of the industrial action.
He says the move is counter-productive and he is thoroughly disappointed.
