KEY POINTS:
The Luxury motor yacht Medici, former plaything of Bridgecorp managing director Rod Petricevic, is for sale.
PricewaterhouseCoopers receivers John Waller and Colin McCloy have been on the Bridgecorp case for the past 10 weeks.
This weekend, they placed the 19.5m luxury craft in the hands of boat broker Leo Toon of Gulf Marine Group.
Waller said the sale would be the first step towards clawing back some money for "mom and pop investors" left bereft by the crash of the high-profile finance company.
The boat is the only luxury asset identified in the tangled morass of the Bridgecorp insolvency. It is currently owned by Bridgecorp subsidiary company, Poseidon.
The nine-year old "President 60" cruiser is powered by twin 820hp diesel engines with a top speed of 25 knots. Of fibreglass construction, it has one single and two double berths, three showers, two-metre headroom, all the electronic mod cons, plus "great outdoor lounging possibilities on aft deck, fore deck and flybridge".
The "Asian-flavoured" interior design features white leather couches, white carpets and luxury, bird's-eye maple cabinetry. Built in Taiwan, it was bought secondhand in Tokyo by Poseidon. Toon describes it as "a great party and entertainment craft".
The smart white cruiser is expected to fetch around $1.3 million. Receivers have already had expressions of interest from 20 potential buyers.
The boat was a regular on the Hauraki Gulf during the 2003 America's Cup, used to entertain Bridgecorp clients with yacht-racing experiences.
More recently, it has been used extensively by the Petricevic family on regular trips to Fiji, where it was based at Denarau marina.
The boat was often used to check progress on the yet-to-be-completed Momi Bay residential sections and luxury golf course development, which receivers are now trying to salvage.
Medici has a full time skipper who has been employed by Poseidon for five years.
