Northland Port today confirmed it would construct a $30 million third berth at its Marsden Point terminal.
The project, a joint venture between Northland Port and Port of Tauranga, gained resource consent in November last year, Northland Port said in a statement to NZX.
Fletcher Construction has been appointed primary contractor for the berth, which would included 180m of extra wharf and about 3ha of land reclaimation.
Work would start later this year and was expected to finish in early 2007.
No other details were immediately available.
At 11am, Northland Port shares were down 7c at $2.83, while those in Port of Tauranga were down 15c at $4.80.
