Westhaven-based marine electrical specialist, Electrics Afloat Ltd (EAL), has been appointed distributor for the i2Systems range of LED lights.
EAL managing director Warren Tait says the company has been watching the LED light market for some time and believes i2Systems' new-generation technology is achieving light levels not previously seen.
"Add the fact that they are waterproof to IP67 and can be used in both interior and exterior applications, and i2Systems' LED lights offer the perfect solution for naval architects and interior designers," he says.
Tait believes halogen lights have "had their day" and are no longer a serious option for the energy-conscious. He sees potential for LED lights with New Zealand's luxury yacht builders, custom and production boatbuilders and in the rapidly growing refit market.
"With their commitment to R&D and their vast product range, we feel i2Systems will lead the way in high-tech marine and commercial LED lighting," he says.
"For example, their 2.5W version offers touch on/off and dimming control, allowing the user to have two-way or multiple switching zones, when the light is in reach, without installing any extra cable."
The range is made from stainless steel and anodised aluminium.
