Advance Trident, the Geldard family's company founded in Auckland in 1994, has won the sole New Zealand distribution agency for Brookes & Gatehouse. B&G is the performance sailing division of Simrad Yachting. ATL specialises in supplying complete solutions for the marine electronics market from mid-range leisure and power boats to superyachts and commercial vessels. Sales director Brett Geldard says the deal adds the extensive B&G range of performance marine electronics to the company's inventory. The agency switch from Kiwi Yachting to ATL takes effect from today.

Yamaha has moved to increase production of its bigger outboard motors - particularly the four-stroke models -- with construction of a new facility in Shizuoka Prefecture. The 118,000sqm facility is expected to begin production in May 2008 to meet increasing international demand. The company says the new plant is designed to restructure the Yamaha Marine production system giving improved logistics, productivity, quality and safety.

The New Zealand Boat Show at Greenlane is moving from the traditional Queen's Birthday Weekend dates. It will now run from Thursday, May 17 to Sunday, May 20. Show organisers say holiday weekends mean many people are out of Auckland at beach houses or boating.
