KEY POINTS:
Freightways is looking to continue a spending spree which has seen it snap up information management assets in Australia.
Chief executive Dean Bracewell said the company would explore acquisitions that complement Freightways' existing businesses.
However, he would not reveal where those expansion opportunities would lie.
"We look at opportunities in all our markets," he said.
Last year Freightways bought data storage firm DataBank with operations in New South Wales and Victoria and Queensland.
In July the company boosted its Australian information management operations with the purchase of Brisbane-based Document Destruction and Paper Recycling, Queensland firm Shred-X and Victoria Paper Recyclers.
Giving a first quarter trading update at the company's annual meeting yesterday, Bracewell said higher interest costs had kept net profit after tax flat at $7.6 million.
For the three months ended September 30, operating revenues were $77.3 million, Earnings before interest and tax were up 4 per cent to $14.5 million.
