Don Rowlands has joined a small group of New Zealanders who have been appointed an Honorary Member of the Order of Australia, General Division.
Rowlands has achieved significant success for his achievements in rowing over the years, as well as in the business sector, as a managing director and chief executive of Fisher & Paykel Appliances.
He has also been appointed to several board positions including chairman and director of Mainfreight, director of CWF Hamilton and of Nestle New Zealand.
His rowing successes include medal achievements in the Commonwealth Games, as well as being a member of the World Rowing Federation (Fisa) for Australia and New Zealand.
Rowlands was responsible for the design of the Olympic rowing and canoeing course at Los Angeles in 1984, and an adviser to the Beijing Olympic Committee on the construction of its rowing course in 2008.
