Wairoa tipped as next gas production zone

The Wairoa area could be the country's next gas-producing area, Energy Corp of America says.

The Denver-based company is "extremely optimistic" about a gas field it has tapped into near Wairoa and plans to resume drilling there within the next nine months.

The company says it is so optimistic about the field it is putting "significant" resources into further exploration there.
