NZ Refining Company general manager Thomas Zengerly yesterday helped celebrate completion of the $8 million upgrade to the pipeline between the Marsden Point refinery and Auckland.
Built in the 1980s, the underground pipeline transports about half the refinery's production - mostly in the form of diesel and jet fuel - to Wiri.
Upgrades have increased its capacity from about 2 million to 2.6 million tonnes a year.
