KEY POINTS:
Spot power prices increased over the past week and less electricity was generated because of the public holiday on Tuesday, reducing demand.
Prices at the North Island reference point of Haywards rose 5.6 per cent to an average $29.10 per megawatt hour, while at the South Island reference point of Benmore they gained 4.6 per cent to an average $25.09 per MWh.
National demand fell 1.9 per cent to 98,002 MWh.
Demand was lower on Monday as many people took the day off to enjoy a longer weekend.
