Six appeals have been lodged with the Environment Court over the Pohokura gasfield development.
Last October, the Taranaki Regional Council and New Plymouth District Council jointly heard 29 consent applications from Shell Todd Oil Services for its proposed $900 million development.
The regional council's resource management director, Bill Bayfield, said this week that four groups, including Ngati Rahiri Hapu O Te Atiawa (Taranaki) Society, Shell Todd Oil, Taranaki Energy Watch and Maori activist Rata Pue's Te Ohu o Pohokura, had lodged 29 appeals against decisions relating to 16 consents.
The regulatory services manager of the New Plymouth City Council, Ron Kratz, said Ngati Rahiri and Shell Todd Oil had lodged appeals against the council's consent decisions.
