KEY POINTS:
Electricity grid owner Transpower has announced an upgrade of its telecommunications network, awarding a five-year contract to Alcatel-Lucent.
The multi-million dollar project will give Transpower a multi-service-based private communications network which will connect 192 sites across the country.
