A power outage affected some businesses in Auckland's CBD this morning.
Power company Vector said the problem was caused by a Transpower voltage surge which triggered some companies' back-up systems and removed them from the power network.
Transpower said a disconnector failed at the Otahuhu substation, taking out a power line. About 200 megawatts of power to Vector was lost and had to be replaced from other sources.
APN, owner of the Herald and nzherald.co.nz, was affected by the incident, which happened at 9.34am.
