Origin gets 51.4pc share of Contact

Origin Energy, Australia's second-largest energy retailer, received acceptances from holders of 51.4 per cent of the shares in New Zealand's Contact Energy, including Edison International's stake.

The Sydney-based company told the ASX that it paid a total of $1.65 billion for the stake.
