KEY POINTS:
Wellington-based Austral Pacific Energy says a new oil well has been tied into the production facility at its onshore Taranaki Cheal field.
The well was being produced at 200 barrels of oil a day with no water during the testing phase, Austral said yesterday.
Initial testing indicated the A7 well was capable of a maximum flow rate in the range of 250 to 280 barrels of oil a day.
The field's current production rate was about 520 barrels a day.
