The Electricity and Gas Complaints Commission is dealing with a growing number of complaints that include an aspect of affordability.
In the commission's annual report yesterday, commissioner Judi Jones said all households were dependent, in particular, on electricity.
She said although the commission did not have jurisdiction to deal with a customer's ability to pay for electricity or gas, callers with affordability issues were referred to appropriate agencies.
