KEY POINTS:
Having been acting boss of Vector since the middle of last year, Simon Mackenzie has now been permanently appointed group chief executive.
Vector chairman Michael Stiassny today said the appointment had followed a thorough search process.
Previously chief operating officer, Mr Mackenzie moved to the acting chief executive role following the resignation of Mark Franklin, which was announced last July.
Mr Stiassny said Vector had an exciting future as it worked to maximise the benefits of its current asset base in electricity, gas, communications and metering.
"As a board we believe Simon has the right credentials for the job and will lead Vector to successfully deliver our agreed strategy," he said.
Mr Mackenzie has been with Vector since 1998, when it was called Mercury.
Vector announces its half year result tomorrow.
