Spot power prices fell last week as demand eased and inflows into hydro lakes remained steady.
Prices at the North Island reference point of Haywards fell 7.2 per cent to an average $65.63 per megawatt hour (MWh), while at the South Island reference point of Benmore prices were 6.3 per cent lower at an average $66.39 per MWh.
"Temperatures have been fairly stable and hydro inflows have been consistent over the last week," an analyst said. "There's been a fairly steady flow of power north, which suggests generators are pretty comfortable with the hydro storage levels."
National inflows rose marginally to 50 per cent of average over the week to Tuesday, compared with 49 per cent in the previous week. In the South Island inflows were 30 per cent of average.
