KEY POINTS:
A global natural gas business, BG Group, says it has appointed New Zealander John Hood as a non-executive director.
BG Group chairman Robert Wilson said in a statement: "John's insight and varied experience will be a valuable addition to our board."
Hood, 55, has been vice-chancellor of Britain's Oxford University since October 2004, and was formerly vice-chancellor of Auckland University.
He has also been a director of several New Zealand-based companies including Fonterra, and ASB Bank, and was chairman of Tonkin & Taylor.
BG Group operates four business segments - exploration and production, LNG, transmission and distribution and power generation in 25 countries.
