Spot power prices fell last week as inflows into hydro lakes continued to improve.
Prices at the North Island reference point of Haywards eased 3.3 per cent to an average $56.76 per megawatt hour (MWh), while at the South Island reference point of Benmore price s were 3.1 per cent lower at an average $57.36 per MWh.
National inflows rose to 105 per cent of average over the week to Tuesday, compared with 93 per cent in the previous week.
An analyst said part of Genesis Energy's 1000 MW Huntly plant in the North Island was out of action, which might affect the market.
"There are some indications that there might be some higher prices t o come in the next week," he said.
National demand rose 1.1 per cent to 113,580 megawatts.
Wholesale market operator M-Co said stored energy over the past seven days fell 4 percentage points to 76 per cent of average.
About two-thirds of New Zealand's electricity comes from hydro power.
