Top German utility E.ON is considering procuring gas from Iran despite a protracted row over the country's nuclear programme, the Handelsblatt newspaper reports.
"There's no denying Iran has the second-biggest gas reserve in the world," E.ON chief executive Wulf Bernotat said.
An entry into Iran would also help make E.ON less dependent on Russian gas deliveries - its main supplier.
