Contact Energy says its new profit distribution plan has retained $120 million of cash for the 2009 financial year.
Of the total number of bonus shares issued in the 2009 final distribution, 72 per cent were being retained.
About $71 million of cash was retained within Contact that would otherwise have been paid as cash.
